Bluegrass Grill: A Family Favorite
Bluegrass Grill, just off of the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, is a multiple time award-winning brunch spot, boasting a creative and diverse menu. The small dining room plays host to the after-church crowd, as well as the family who just can't get out the door early enough for actual breakfast, making it one of the premier places to grab brunch in Charlottesville. While it is a favorite, it's demographic isn't as diverse as a spot like Bodo's, which helps Bluegrass Grill serve a niche in the community.
The culture at the Bluegrass Grill is the closest to the traditional idea of brunch and hunt breakfasts as you can find in Charlottesville.
Families have handed down the tradition of Sunday brunch at Bluegrass from generation to generation, much like the huntsmen of old England would.
Families are the centerpiece of the Bluegrass Grill's customer base, just as the family was the center of brunch in post World War II America, when wives would take a day off from their busy lives, gather the family, and bring them out to brunch.
Bluegrass Grill also enjoys a nice bump in slaes from the post church crowd, as it in close proximity to a number of chruches on Main Street and Market Street, giving a convenient option for post-church brunch.
All of these factors together create a customer base that is very opposite from Beer Run. The customer base is largely middle to upper class, church going, families, quite opposite from the young, not as wealthy and diverse crowd that frequents Beer Run brunches on Sundays.
The culture is one that has been passed on from generation to generation, presumably from brunch culture of decades ago, as it is extremely similar to old brunch culture of old England and early America.
